Utkatāsana

Slokha:

Translation: half bent knee and keeping the trunk straight. This is known as Utkatasana.

Benefits:

  • Strengthens the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, knees, ankles
  • Helps with flat feet  & knee stability
  • Expands lung capacity and energizes the body
  • Balances the body and brings determination to mind
  • Builds stamina, stability, alignment and very grounding
  • Traditionally thought to stimulate abdominals and heart regions
  • Increases digestive fire, digestion, assimilation and elimination

Contraindication – Avoid with  destabilized knees, with high blood pressure, arm below heart, low back issues & menstruation  proceed gently
